Thanksgiving is here! After four weeks of classes, 8:30s, and the busyness of school, heading home for the weekend is such a treat. But as nice as it is to visit family (and cozy up to your dog!), some of us are kicking it Kingston-style this Thanksgiving. If you're hanging around K-town with nothing to do, here are a few fun ideas to make this Thanksgiving weekend the best one yet!!
WOLFE ISLAND CORN MAZE
Every once in a while its fun to do the things we did when we were little! Remember when you went apple picking, or when your parents drove you out to a farm to find the PERFECT pumpkin for Halloween? Well...this sunny weekend you and your friends have the opportunity to do just that! Wolfe Island is hosting their annual Thanksgiving corn maze event! Admission is only $10 and all of the proceeds go towards a great foundation called Easter Seals Ontario, which supports children and youth with physical disabilities. Plus, what better backdrop for a classic fall Insta than a corn maze??
FORT HENRY THANKSGIVING MEAL
Obviously one of the best things about Thanksgiving is the turkey dinner! Unfortunately as university students, our skills in the kitchen are limited to meals about as complex as Kraft Dinner and scrambled eggs. But...thanks to Fort Henry, you can still get your turkey fix this Thanksgiving! The featured menu at the Fort Henry restaurant includes everything from roast turkey, mashed potatoes, and cooked veggies, to the gravy and cranberry sauce! YUMMY! The only thing that's missing from this delicious meal is the pumpkin pie, but if you check out the next item below, we'll tell you exactly where you can satisfy your sweet tooth.
CRAVE COFFEE HOUSE & BAKERY
The best and ONLY way to finish off a thanksgiving meal is with...what else? Pie!!! Crave Coffee House & Bakery is featuring a number of Thanksgiving desserts this weekend, including apple pie, pumpkin pie, and gourmet cinnamon buns! You can preorder your Thanksgiving desserts by filling out a quick Google Doc. There's no excuse not to treat yourself this weekend! Just click here to place your order!
DO-IT-YOURSELF THANKSGIVING DESSERT
If you're a DIY kind of person and an avid baker, try this super easy Thanksgiving dessert recipe! All you'll need is apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, salt, flour, sugar and butter (and obviously some ice cream to top it off). It's THAT simple!
