Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is JUST AROUND THE CORNER! If you till haven’t gotten that perfect gift for your wonderful mumma, don’t fret! We’re here to help! Check our list of Mother’s Day must-haves.

1.) The first gift on our list are Michael Roger’s Decomposition Books. Made from 100% post consumer waste recycled pages, these notepads are cute and eco-friendly – perfect for any green mama looking to stay organized! Our favourite prints are Honeycomb, Victoria and Sugar Skulls (not pictured). For under ten dollars (and sold at Tricolour Outlet if you happen to be in Kingston for the summer), this is an easy gift for mom!

2.) If you are looking for an amazing experience to share with your mother to celebrate Mother’s Day, look no further. Cavalia: Odysseo is an incredible show – part Cirque du Soleil, part Stampede evening show with mindblowing acrobatic stunts all done on horseback! The show is in Toronto for a limited time, at the White Big Top tent by the waterfront. Tickets range anywhere from $50-$250 depending on your seating and whether you opt in for a VIP package experience!

3.) Glitter and Gold tea from David’s Tea is made from sugar, spice and everything nice – a Chinese black tea dotted with sugar crystals that sweeten the tea as it steeps. Did we mention it literally sparkles? As David’s Tea writes: “Your toes will tingle and your mind will turn to fireworks, and falling stars. It’s basically magic.” A drink fit for the Queen of your castle, otherwise known as Mom.

4.) Lush Bath Bombs are the perfect gift for those on a budget. Cheap yet luxurious, Bath Bombs are loaded with essential oils and turn a normal bath into a colourful, fizzy explosion – your mom will be in heaven. Our personal favourites are Twilight – a pretty lavender bath – Phoenix Rising, and Dragon’s Egg (this one ends with a super fun glitter explosion). They range in price from $4 – $13 (for limited editions versions) so they won’t break the bank! Did we mention that Lush is 100% vegetarian, not tested on animals and are handmade? Now that’s a gift you can feel good about!

5.) Coming from the Impossible Project is the Instant Lab Universal – an awesome present for your techie-moms or those who have a tendency for nostalgia. The Instant Lab Universal turns images on your iPhones or Androids (as well as tablets) into Polaroid style instant photos. All you need to do is download the app on your phone and you are all set to print. This is a great present if your mom is ever complaining about not having enough time to print photos or is a memory collector.

6.) Macarons. Need we say more? These delectable French pastries will satisfy your mother’s sweet tooth and are the yummiest way for her to channel her inner Parisian. Our favourite macaron shops in Toronto are Bobette & Belle, located in Leslieville that feature flavours such as Salted Caramel, Passionfruit and Mint Chocolate, or La Bamboche on Avenue Road. For under $3 a pastry, these goodies are hard to pass up.

7.) Is your mom a vino expert? Does she love to relax with a glass of wine after a long day? We know the perfect gift for her. Inniskillin Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake offers a tour of their beautiful vineyards and winery along with a tasting of three table wines and an Icewine for only nine dollars a person. The shared experience and memories with your mom will be worth a lot more than that though! You can also get more extensive tour and tasting experiences, add on to your wine tasting with cheese or desert tastings, formal lunches and dinner parties, or make a day of it and visit other wineries in the
area such as Jackson Triggs!

8.) If the Rifle Floral Lace Case isn’t the cutest phone case you’ve ever seen, we might think you’re lying. Made with rubber and a hard outer shell, it’s protective but not huge. It’s also perfect for summer with the whimsical floral print. Sold for $40, this item is a bit pricier but Mom’s worth it right?
